I haven't thought very carefully about that deal Michael. I know that Sun has struggled mightily over the past decade or so, and this looks to be a complementarity play (combine services with hardware). That said however, I have not followed the pricing aspect of the deal, nor do I follow each firm closely enough to provide an informed opinion.

As for obligations and commitments, certainly integrations are difficult on the employees of both firms. In my opinion it is incumbent upon the acquiring firm to handle RIF's very carefully, and with respect and integrity. That said however, some RIF are generally unavoidable in such deals, especially if the acquirer intends to derive value from the target.

Hi Bob,

What do you think about the Oracle acquisition of Sun, which is now under investigation by EC? Will it create value for the stakeholders? I know there has been layoffs across the board in both firms since June. What do you think about corporate responsibility in terms of their obligations and commitments?
